Not ”ME” but ”WE”

Few days ago monsoon hit North-India with continuous rain over a couple of days. It was august 10, 2015, I was returning from some work and the rains were flooding the roads, the rain though moderate was incessant. Chandigarh is one of the first cities to ban plastic bags in India, but the ban seems to have trickled down the drain. The beautiful city of India ironically turns into a flooded sewer each time the clouds pour down, the polyethene bags which are banned in the city seem to magically appear thus blocking the sewers leaving behind a question for us, Who’s responsible?

Plastic bags have always been a serious threat to environment posing concerns for not only humans but animals too. How will you feel if someone you love dies? It hurts right? You might think the reason why I’m being so hurtful? Well here’s the reason, Cow being the most sacred animal in India is worshipped by a huge percentage of Indians but each of these so-called “Educated” flock of people has a ‘Lifafa’ hung at their homes containing plenty of smaller “lifafas(polybags)”, they throw these plastic bags in garbage apathetically without thinking of animals who eat them and choke to death, with the “Gau Mata” being the most common victim to this heinous crime.

Well it all comes down to us, when we put the ‘Me’ before ‘We’, the constant question being, Why should I quit when the others continue? These small fragments of  ‘Me’ league up to pose a severe environmental hazard of  “Undisposed plastic”.

Have the courage to come forward and save nature, save mankind and thus save the earth. When each one of us starts feeling it’s me who can lead the change, that’s when the change will actually begin…
